Brain Power (Grades 6-8)

Brain Power is an engaging educational program that brings to light the realities of addiction and drug abuse through the newest research on the developing brain. Students learn about the brain and its functions, as well as the ways that drugs affect the brain’s ability to carry out those functions.

Students will learn the stages of growth in the brain and how substance misuse could have profound, and potentially lifelong, affects. They will also become familiar with the dangers of binge drinking and experimentation with other substances commonly abused.

Risk factors addressed: Early experimentation, poor decision making, lack of refusal skills

Lesson length: one session, approx. 45 minutes.
