This is a 6-session support and psycho-educational program for children in grades three through five. It helps them learn how to reduce loyalty conflict and increase their ability to manage feelings and conflicts experienced during divorce or separation of their parents. Each 45-minute session centers on an activity that encourages dialogue about a significant concern or issue typically experienced by children managing the family’s transitions.
Imagine asking a child to write a feeling on a ping pong ball that is distressing them. Then put the ping pong ball in a bowl of water. Inevitably the ping pong ball will come to the surface unless the child deals with the feeling. This exercise stimulates healthy conversation.
