SCHOOL RESOURCES

The Center works closely with educators, parents, and students to ensure education and prevention programs are meaningful and meet the needs of kids.

Our services include science-based prevention programs for children and teens, professional development for educators, parenting education programs, classroom infusion of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) information, and life skills education.

Our professional staff can help assess your needs and plan developmentally appropriate programs tailored to the needs of students, staff, and parents.

FOOTPRINTS FOR LIFE is a six-session research-based prevention program for students in second and third grade, which helps them to build important life skills such as decision-making, cultural competence, avoiding peer pressure, and peaceful conflict resolution. Lessons use puppets and stories that feature "real-life" situations experienced by a children's soccer team.(top of page)

FOREST FRIENDS is a six-session program to help chiildren in first and second grade learn skills to appropriately express feelings, resolve conflicts, control anger, make decisions, and establish healthy relationships with adults and other children. Lessons include a puppet story, a group discussion, and a reinforcing activity. (top of page)

KEYS TO INNER VISIONS(KIV) is a 10-week program for teens that enhances decision-making skills, addresses conflict resolution, and promotes goal-setting.(top of page)

KIDS' TURN is a six-session school-based support and education program for third through fifth grade students whose parents are separated or divorced. Prevention specialists and school staff work together to help children reduce loyalty conflict, learn to express their feelsings, and enhance family communication. (top of page)

REACHING EVERYONE BY EXPOSING LIES (REBEL) is a school-based statewide youth movement by and for New Jersey teens who want to break free from the influence of tobacco and tobacco companies.(top of page)

STUDENT ASSISTANCE COUNSELING (SAC) SERVICES are available to Bergen County school districts on a contract basis. This important professional counseling service provides schools with the expertise and resources to respond to students at risk. (top of page)

TALKING ABOUT DRUGS IN THE REAL WORLD is a brief interactive presentation to teach young teens how to avoid situations where they are offered alcohol or other drugs - and what to do if the offer comes anyway.(top of page)

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT NETWORK (YEN) is the first prevention program in Bergen County specifically designed for students with learning disabilities. YEN includes a 12-week developmentally appropriate life-skills training program for 6th grade students. (top of page)
